Default American Elite vs. Elite 3

I am getting ready to buy a rear tire, and eventually a front, for a 2010 Ultra Classic Limited. Been reading the posts about the Dunlop EIIIs and also the American Elites. Most all are positive on both, so i'm looking for help/advice deciding between the two different styles. Any recommendations for the Limited?

I have the American Elites. Love it! Will definitely be replacing with another 1 when time comes.

I'm getting ready to pop for both front and rear, and these are the exact same two I'm looking at. Wasn't sure if they were making the E3's for the 09 and later tho. Looking forward to the feedback your thread will provide. Thanks for the post.

Just put American Elite's on my 2011 Road King. Didn't see III's available when I purchased them. AE's are an amazing improvement over the stock skins. Smooth, grippy, don't know if it was just because my old tires were that worn out (11k miles) or these are that good, but I like them! I thought ahead a little and ordered the angled billet valve stems to replace the straight PITA stems. FYI, paid $481.00 for front and rear, mounted on the bike, all in.

I did the same as fzggm4 and put on front and rear American Elites with the angled valve stems from motorcycle anchor. I put these on my 2010 Ultra. So far so good. Will be headed to Vegas and Laughlin this weekend so I will get a chance to rack up some miles in the heat. Day time temps in the Vegas area this weekend 96.

I got 15790 miles out of my D407 rear. The front was replaced at the same time and is still on the bike. I had an American Elite put on the rear about two weeks back. Have only gotten in about 400 miles and the new tire certainly tracks well. I believe it is an improvement over the D407, but it's hard to really tell at this point. I will have the Americam Elite put on the front, but I think it has several thousand miles left on it. These tires are for my 2009 Road King. For some reason I don't think the Elite IIIs were available for my bike (180/65B16 rear wheel size). I paid about $220 for the tire. But that was through an Indy that also did the mounting/balancing. You can get the Elite for around $202 online. My local dealer wanted around four bills to sell the tire and do the install. Needless to say I went with the Indy. I know it's difficult to find the D407/D408 tires for my bike.

Just put on the American Elite on my 2011 FLHTC of Friday and put 600 miles riding 2 up on Sat. I believe it rides better than the 407 ever did new.

I made a 3400 mile trip last year after putting on a set of Elites on my bike. Ride and handling are great. They last about 20% longer than stock tires,

I just put on a new set and they feel great.

unless you have a sg or rgc with an 18in front wheel. then you have to mix the ae on the rear and the e3 on the front.
