Default 2013 SG Tri Lights

Sorry if this has been posted all ready. I could not find a write up or walk through on it.
I would like to make the Tri-lights on the rear fender to light up when brakes are applied. I know you can by a replacement for it and do it that way BUT it kinda takes the fun out of it though. Has anyone modded this themselves?
Thanks

Griff

There are threads for this, I found them when I was looking to brighten up the back end of my '12 SG, keep looking. Two comments:

1) The HD tri-lite replacement isn't worth it IMHO. Not that much brighter, much too low to get noticed, and was kind of a waste of $

2) Much better bang for your buck to put LED's on all 4 corners. I did a write up, used Custom Dynamics, but you can find many threads on LED's / other makers. A plug for the magic strobe if you want to get some attention back there.

Have fun . . .

I did a post several years ago on modifying the tri-bar light with additional LEDs and wiring it for run and brake functions. The wiring won't help you much since it was done when there were tail lights on SGs. How to take apart the tri-bar light info may still be useful. It made for an interesting project, but had little utility from a lighting standpoint.

I agree with SCMike that the project yields little value from a lighting standpoint because it is so low.

I also agree with SCMike that you would be wise to find the brightest LED's to replace what's on your bike, and a flasher feature for the rear. Also, consider a better head light and, some additional lighting for the front. Denim black is the closest thing to an invisible bike HD makes.

You need a run, brake, turn set-up from HD or who ever got 1 works great

Harleypingman:
No doubt it's like a shadow. I think the option of new LED's sounds interesting. As well as thread searching to brighten up the back end.
I will look for your write ups Harleypingman,SoCalMike. Thanks for the tip TwinCam 96 I will look into that as well.
