Default 14 Speaker Swap Was A Nightmare!!!

I bought a pair of Infinity Reference 6032si shallow mount 2ohm speakers to install in my 14 SGS.

Compared to my 09 SG swapping speakers on the 14 was a nightmare! The enclosures are a pain in the @$$ to remove especially the 3 screws on the inside of the bracket on the right side of the bike.

Just FYI bring some patience with you when you change yours.

Did you have to use the shallow mount because of space limitations?

I think the regular would have fit but I bought the shallow to be safe.

The sound quality definately improved and I can play it at full volume with no distortion But I didnt finish it till 8pm so I didnt have a chance to ride it.

I decided not to do the amp thing this time so I bought the speakers that would make the most of the head unit.

Got them for $79 so it was worth it to try.

Thanks so much for the post! I'm looking to upgrade mine to 6.5 and don't know whether to buy the HD Boom ones or another brand

If you are going to use an amp the Harley Speakers are ok but if you are only going to use the head unit I recomend a speaker with a lower RMS and higher sensitivity rating.

I did not use polyfill I didnt think of it to be honest. Not sure it would do much anyways since Im just running it off the head unit but Im sure it wouldnt hurt.

It took me 3 hours including time to drive and buy new spade connectors because the ones on the speakers I bought were smaller than the factory harley wires. In the same amount of time I removed the tank and hooked up an amp and tweeter pod on my 09 SG.

The 3 screws/bolts on the lower inside of the fairing are the biggest problem. Everything else was pretty easy.

You will have to cut the little alignment pin off the plastic enclosure which I did using a razor blade and I had to cut notches in the metal lip of my speakers to clear the three spots it makes contact with the speaker grill. The lip on the harley speakers was much shorter.

I will post an update after I go for a ride this weekend. I dont expect a huge difference other than I will be able to turn up the volume a lot more without worrying about hurting the speakers and the tweeters should help cut through the wind.
