Default Sirius/XM radio

Is there a way to configure the infotainment center for a portable satellite radio instead of the overpriced $400.00 module for the satellite radio.

Thanks,
Ed

Welcome to the Forums.

i was an early adopter of XM and on my 1995 FLHTC used an FM modulator to get the signal into my radio.

the modulator plugs inline with the antenna and transmits audio on a selected frequency.
you dial up the same frequency on the FM radio and Voila, stereo sound.

I use same set up in my 2001 GMC and 66 cadillac.

Fm Modulators cost under $100.

mine are the Delphi which came from XM, and also intergrated power supply to receiver

or you can use the aux in.

given the state of programming since sirius and XM merged and the low bandwidth audio jitters, I don;t use xm anymore

We discussed this a while ago and came up with likely only by FM if I remember correctly. People were saying the new Infotainment system doesn't have an "aux in" like the previous HK systems. XM does make an FM modulator which goes inline from the FM antenna to the radio. I think HD also changed the antenna connector also so some type of adapter would be needed. The adapter works much better than the fm that's built in to the xm units. The signal is much stronger.

I'm running my portable XM Onyx on my bike, plugged into the aux in. I run it in my cruiser through the aux in, and fm modulator with GM adapters in my Sierra.

This is what I have mounted right next to my left handlebar switches. Plugged into the AUX.

On the 2013 and older models, just plug it in to the Aux as mentioned. On the 2014's just get the module and use the installed interface. Not having to remove it every time you stop, not having it vibrate loose and keeping it on in the rain is well worth the $400.

You can do it, research audio jack jumper part 69200610 , after this harness is installed you have to have the dealer activate audio input 3. i bought the sirius and have my 665 sitting on the bench. really nice to be fully integrated. mike

Nope. it sits in a cradle that came with the unit that has the connections to the 12v cig power, antenna, and 3.5mm audio plug. If it rains, I just lift it off and stick it in my pocket or in the tour pack.

Blue tooth it off your phone, cost 3 bucks a month if you already have a subscription for your car, plus your data plan.

This is what I do but I'm still thinking it might be nice to have it built in the radio... Although my favorite station is Red, White & Booze and it's only an online station...
