Assuming you have an 08 based upon your profile pic, your brake fluid should have been changed 3 times already during the life of the bike and the brake lever service pin should have been changed at a minimum of 3 times, has any of that been completed?

Any chance the cable is hanging up in the housing? maybe dirt or something has built up in the housing? I don't know if that is possible but just a thought.

Well I'd definitely start by servicing it so you know what has been done. Change the brake fluid, change the lever service pin, etc.

If your master cylinder is DOT4 DON'T use the DOT5. They don't play well together.
Unless you flush it through with 2 cans.
Your piston is probably dirty. If you crack the bleeder while pulling the lever does the fluid come out and lever drop?
