No problem sticking with the stock air cleaner.

Default 2013 trike what changes to make with only a little knowledge

Hi , 1st post, I've been reading, rereading & maybe I'm right or wrong. Opinions would be appreciated.
OK, 2013 tri glide, under warranty/till 2019. Concern of warranty hassles. I still have all my stock parts. I have de-cated a stock header & added an Arlene Ness stage 1.all with the stock mufflers. Installing a Master tuner is next.

Could/should I have have started with the tuner 1st. ?

I understand that with what I have already done (de-cat/stage 1) and adding a tuner will make more power, torque, AND less heat. I "heard" the stock header with the cat removed has the O2 sensors in a poor location & should get an aftermarket header.

Thanks in advance Dave

An aftermarket head pipe will give you an immediate HP an TQ gain over a decat stock head pipe. The stock sensor locations are fine. The crosstalk suspicion on a decat stock head pipe was proved to be a non issue.

If it were me... I would put the stock air cleaner back on until you get your Tuner. You are running a risk of the ECM not being able to adjust completely for the change in both the pipe and air cleaner. This could result in excessive heat while riding and possible engine damage.

Interesting enough... this thread still applies today, 11 years later.
