My brother has a 2012 Electra Glide Police Special and it came with these heat shields installed:
People here have suggested that if one removes the left side unit, the rear cylinder may get more airflow. I was thinking do that and maybe bend the right side shield outward a little to catch even more air. Good idea or waste of time?
Good idea not the bending but the removal. It does work but if you have OCD it will drive u nuts. You can check results pretty easy. Two screws/bolts. Pops right off. creates a scoop. Blows the hot air right out. I have the FP3 where I can monitor the temps and it did drop. Like 15 to 20 degrees based on air temps and conditions.Good luck
Yes it is the left side. Crouch coolers do work. Kinda. One thing stops your legs from getting hot. One keeps your crotch cool. One keeps your but cool. What can u live with? Heat has to go somewhere. Most options just move the heat somewhere else. Thats why I said try it. Hope it works for u.
i have a crotch cooler purchased long ago. they help dissipate the heat from under the seat pan too. i just treat them with pitch blend every now and then to help keep the leather more supple. its a thick hide and i think they do what they are intended to do. i might have to get an army set....lol
