Default Rear tire size confusion

I'm wanting to put a 140 rear tire on my 06 FLHT. Is that a MU85 or MU90? Buying the American elite front and rear. Thanks.

Mu 85
BTW, your first ride with the AE's are probably gonna feel pretty squirrely. Not to worry, they are just very responsive and you will get accustomed to it. Good choice of tires in my opinion!!!

The mu85 is a 143 mm tire. Some run a 150 on the 2006.

This is the American Elite tire you'd be using! (AM ELITE MU85B16 77H) and the manufacturer part number is 34AE-23 !!

We can get these quick so let us know if you need any help!

The MU fit right up in there. Didn't have to trim the guard or anything.

Why wouldn't it? That's Original Equipment size

MU's are 140mm wide. The "85" or "90" refers to aspect ratio, meaning the MU90 is a taller 140mm wide tire than an MU85. The MU90 would probably fit in the fender, but the MU85 would be closer to the stock diameter. Both fit the wheel the same.

True. You should be able to run up to a 160/60-18 without mods

Not in my experience, but certainly a 150/80 will fit. Be sure to check the load rating, as some versions of that size are lower than is suitable for a dresser.
