Beautifully Restored Harley-Davidson VL Leaves its Competition in the Dust on Motorcycle Club Circuit

Some vintage motorcycles are left in original condition and ridden and enjoyed. Others are restored and put on display for others to enjoy. And then there are bikes that receive painstaking restorations with the intention of dominating the vintage motorcycle show circuit. The 1930 Harley-Davidson VL featured here definitely falls into the latter category. This gorgeous bike is up for grabs on eBay, where the asking price as of this writing is $38,750.

1930 Harley VL

The year 1930 marked the debut of the VL. Using nothing but original parts, this classic Harley was professionally restored to perfection. Stored in a climate-controlled garage ever since, it’s seen only 75 miles of road since completion. And the results of that loving care can’t be denied.

That’s because this beautiful VL has racked up a series of prestigious awards since then. They include the Antique Motorcycle Club of America Senior First Award, which is tightly contested each year.

You’d be hard pressed to find a VL more original or with as good of a pedigree as this one. This notion is quite significant, because 1930 marked another year of breaking records and winning awards for Harley-Davidson. Sitting atop that award-winning lineup was the VL. The higher compression version of the V, the VL used a 74 ci Flathead producing 30 horsepower to reach speeds of 85 miles per hour.

With only 3,246 VLs produced in 1930, finding one is any kind of condition today is rather rare. But finding one in stellar condition, like this example, is very difficult. So even though it isn’t ridden much, we can certainly appreciate the fact that this classic Harley is still around for everyone to enjoy.
