Default 2021 FLHXS and Upgrades

We are two weeks into the ownership of our 2021 Street Glide Special in Snake Venom. If you are interested in why we purchased a second Harley touring bike, why a Street Glide and why chrome and Sanke Venom you can click on the link below for the thread in General Discussion that covers the decision.

https://www.hdforums.com/forum/gener...n-and-why.html

We rode to dinner last night and now have 350 miles on the bike. The 2017 Limited and the new 2021 FLHXS are two very different bikes. I still believe the ride and confort of the Limited are far superior. The Street Glide however is FUN! It has a very sporty feel and the Carolina Girl and I are both enjoying it. Last Saturday we were up on the BRP and have a few pictures to share.

The stock windshield is a joke. I could not keep my sunglasses on my face with a half helmet. The first upgrade was a Klock Werks 5-1/2 in Dark Smoke windshield. I am now a believer. These windshields are amazing. I just received a new 8-1/2 KW today for the Limited! They work and work extremely well.

Next I replaced the antenna with a shorty, added the chrome lay down license plate frame and HD front and rear LED turn signals. Yeah I know who Custom Dynamics is. I've use them on three bikes and have them on the front of the CVO Limited. My personal opinion is that from a styling standpoint CD is going backwards. We saw the HD lights on a dealer owners bike and loved them. They look nice and work perfectly. Then I had the original take off slip ons off the 2017 CVO Limited. I put them on the SG for a better look. We are planning to keep this bike stock engine wise and quiet.

Before shot of stock rear end :

After with HD Led's, license plate frame and shorty antenna and Slip On's:

As mentioned above, I am not a fan of the latest Custom Dynamics lights. I like the look of the HD far better. It they hold up well I will be very happy.

New for the seat, The stock SG seat is crappy at best. Terrible for a passenger. We did a lot of research looking for a quality seat that would work for both of us and look good on the bike. I have owned Mustangs, C&C and Danny Gray. All good not nothing we were looking for. With the help of YouTube it was clear that Saddlemen was the option for us. We rode last nigh about a 100 miles and were both blow away with the quality and confort of the Saddlemen Road Sofa CF. It may be our next seat for the CVO Limited also. Time will tell.

I added Streamline passenger floorboards for my wife and placed the pegs up on the crash bars for highway pegs. The HD fllowboards are expensive. I got these through Dennis Kirk and saved about $150.00. Added our bell that a friend gave us.

I have become a huge fan of Rokform phone mounts. I used many and for me this is the best, cleanest look and easiest to use. I have it currently on our Limited for two years now and on the stock handle bars of the new SG. But I have ordered 12 inch LA Chopper Twin Peaks in black and will be installing them soon with HD Kahuna grips.

We just have 350 miles on her so far but it's doing exactly what we wanted her to do, "Put a smile on our faces".

I also added the security siren.

P

icture before the upgrades.

Cosmic, looking good. I have the same color, but have a better looking front fairing!. We have 1300 miles on ours, drove it home from NC. The drive home was terrible, stock seat, stock windshield, no hwy pegs, and pegs for the wife.
We have done a lot of the same mods you have done and it has made a world of difference. The stock bars still suck bad, but will be changed out.
We bought a new king TP with all the stuff that goes with it, I would have bought a RG limited if they would have had one in any color.

Pictures really dont do the color justice. less then a week after returning I polished all the paint and applied a LSP Ive been testing on the paint. Now its looking how it should.

Looks like you guys are enjoying the new ride. We havent rode much at all since our trip in May. Our riding season is getting ready to start!

You shark heads all all alike! LOL

Congratulations on your ride. Yeah the only thing worse than the stock shield on the SG is the one on the RG. We like different and the Snake Venom certainly fits the bill. Our annual winter ride to Florida will not happen this year. Missed last year due to covid and this year we'll trying to finish a home remodel and will be moving in. Riding there in December is our favorite time. We just have to watch the weather back home for our window of return. I'm Jealous.

Enjoy!

The 2021 FLHX is not a Rushmore. Moved to Touring.

It most definately is.

It is a Street Glide, Touring series, RUSHMORE!

Give me a freaking break!

Brother I respect you but you may want to join a Harley sight and do some research.

EVERY Road King, Street Glide, Road Glide and Limited automatically became RUSHMORES in 2014.
