2017 Harley-Davidson Milwaukee-Eight – A Different View
So yesterday was a ton of information about the latest generation Harley motor and motorcycles. It made me kind of sit and wonder after reading all of the press releases and and magazine reviews if Harley did enough.
Harley-Davidson still owns the heavy weight cruiser market by a large margin. The problem is the competition is stronger, there are more options available, and there are higher quality options than they have faced in 50 years.
More power is always great, cooler running is also a bonus but did they take it far enough? Not one new item leads the category. Does that bother you?
It’s the opinion of this writer that Harley-Davidson needed to push further, to lead the pack once again, to be the technology king of the road.
That’s not to say the new bikes and motors aren’t stunning and an evolutionary improvement on the previous generation. I am just left wanting more from the mothership, a revolution not an evolution.
The introduction of the of the Street series of motorcycles was a stunner and a bold move by Harley. Where is that boldness for 2017? With a complete redesign going on with the motor why not develop that fully liquid cooled motor with all of the Harley heritage built in?
These are the best Harley-Davidsons ever made but they aren’t the best Harley-Davidsons they could have made.
That’s this writers take, feel free to pummel me in the comments below.
