Harley-Davidson El Rey

Award-Winning 1957 Harley-Davidson El Rey, the Most Incredible H-D Custom Ever, Is Almost More Famous than the Kardashians

Harley-Davidson produces one of the most customized vehicles in the history of vehicles. They just make perfect blank canvases for artists known as builders. But it’s possible that we just found the cream of the custom crop.  El Rey, a 1957 H-D up for grabs on eBay in an auction that ends on January 8.

El Rey translates to “The King,” and that’s exactly what this bike became — the king of customs. After 15 years of blood, sweat and tears, we’re left with a motorcycle work of art. Which is what you would expect from a bike built by Warren Lane, brother of the infamous Billy Lane.

There simply isn’t enough space to mention every little detail on this amazing bike. El Rey sports a trophy case full of awards, made a TV appearance, and there’s a DVD documenting the build. Not to mention the eight magazine spreads.

And every bit of that attention comes warranted. Nothing on El Rey was left untouched, from the highly modified frame to the handmade fenders and foot controls. Plus, things like a 1941 Willy’s headlight add to the uniqueness.  This bike comes with no shortcuts and no sacrifices.

So as you would imagine, you’ll need to sacrifice some serious coin if you wish to own it. To the tune a buy it now price of a cool $100,000. But exactly how often do you get the chance to own a rolling piece of art? And that’s one with a rich history and a famous builder.

And for those with the means and the desire, there’s no debate. Whether you wish to own a bike that will win trophies or just stun anyone that sees it. So before you question the price, just pull the trigger.
