Harley May Introduce Nightster as a Custom 1250 Variant

Harley-Davidson recently filed for a trademark to secure the Nightster moniker, which suggests that the bike manufacturer might be developing a variant of its Sportser model range.

The Harley-Davidson Sportster has a very dedicated fan following, which is why custom bike outfits usually opt to capitalize on this highly coveted body type when they craft their projects. Right now, Harley-Davidson is amidst a major overhaul, and the company has announced that it will add new products to its model range quite soon.

Harley-Davidson recently introduced its Pan America twins, but the company has refrained from divulging any information about its highly anticipated Sportster model range. Speculations suggest that the Sportster revival has been in development for several years now. The company’s platform was discontinued in Europe after failing to comply with Euro 5 emission regulation.

Harley showcased a concept back in 2018 which was called the Custom 1250 and hinted at what might be Harley’s next Sportster avatar. Since then, the company has not officially confirmed whether or not the concept will be used to develop the next installment of Harley Davidson’s Sportster nameplate.

Harley May Introduce Nightster as a Custom 1250 Variant

Recently, the company filed for a trademark to secure the Nightster moniker, which suggests that Harley might introduce a variant of its Sportser model range quite soon. For the uninitiated, Harley-Davidson introduced Nightster as a 1200cc variant of the Sportster range back in 2007.

The Nightster model helped Harley target a customer base that was looking for a stripped-down Bobber-esque model. The production of Harley-Davidson Nightster ended in 2013, and since then, the company has lost the rights to the name. The company filed for the trademark on March 2, 2021, and the application indicates that Harley plans on developing its Nightster model based on the Custom 1250 platform.

Harley even virtually confirmed that Custom 1250 might soon join the company’s product portfolio. The company added the bike to its future model section on the bike manufacturer’s official website. So far, Harley owns the trademark for multiple nameplates, which include 48X and Bronx.

The company has confirmed that it intends on using its trademarked names for upcoming motorcycles and structural components. This indicates that Harley may be considering rebooting the Nightster nameplate, and we might finally have a worthy successor to the iconic Harley-Davidson Sportster.
