Default NGK Ruthenium plug for TC

For those interested in a Ruthenium plugs for a Twin Cam: NGK DCPR7ERX-P are available for sale in Japan.

I bought a set and confirmed they do fit.

Maybe they are a little overkill, a little over-priced, but hey why not?

I thought exotic plugs were a no-no on Twin Cams because of the Ion-Sense issue?

They seem to work fine. They're basically the same as the Iridium plugs, which are widely used, just with a better material.

Most TC has Ion sensing. You may not be protected from spark knock. Possible it could read them and detune the motor.

And usually that plug is very sensitive to a little fouling and a hard hot ride will glaze it over and cause them to miss..

Really servies no purpose for a long life plug.

Put them in a Honda car and the will last 100k. Leave them in a Harley and they might not come out in 25k or take the aluminum threads with them.

From what I’ve read, almost no spark plug will interfere with the ion sensing. The problem seems to exist with certain types/grades of spark plug wires.

There’s nothing special about the standard HD plugs or the SE plugs.

In my experience with Ruthenium plugs, they just perform better on all fronts in all applications.

I’ll see what I can dig up for technical info on the Delphi ion sensing system, but my understanding is that basically all plugs are within its operating window.

Absolutely false info on the spark plugs. I’ve seen them throw codes and false spark knock.

I've never met anyone who's had a problem with non H-D plugs.

In Canada we don't have a surplus of cheap knock-off auto parts, so that might explain why. People are using NGK, Bosch, and Champion.

It would be more helpful if you listed the make and model of the plugs you've seen problems with, and what other conditions were present.
