Legendary Illinois Harley Dealership Bought by Nearby H-D Shop
Frieze Harley-Davidson gets new owners, new name & new lease on life.
After 55 years in business, trend-setting Frieze Harley-Davidson in O’Fallon, Illinois, is now Green Mount Road Harley-Davidson. Long-time owner Jenny Frieze recently turned over the store’s keys to another Harley franchise owner, Brad Holzhauer who owns and operates St. Charles Motorsports Group in a suburb of St. Louis, Missouri. Holzhauer’s nearby St. Charles Harley-Davidson is the leader in volume sales for Harley bikes in the greater St. Louis area.
Established in East St. Louis in 1963, Frieze Harley-Davidson began as Russell Frieze turned his love of Harleys into his life. Over the next 55 years, the dealership expanded four times to meet growing customer demands. After Russell’s death in 2002, Frieze H-D consolidated its business into a new state-of-the-art location in O’Fallon.
The only dealership to receive the Environmental Award from Harley-Davidson Motor Company, the eco-friendly O’Fallon facility was also the first Harley dealership to receive the U.S. Green Building Council gold rating under the “Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design” certification program.
In a recent Belleville News-Democrat article, new owner Holzhauer affirmed his commitment to the dealership. “We’re going to grow,” Holzhauer said. “All employees are staying and we’ll have openings in a lot of places.” Holzhauer has already increased in-store inventory from 30 bikes to 300.
In the same Belleville News article, Jenny Frieze confirmed that she’s retiring to spend more time with her family. “I would like to express my heartfelt thanks for the wonderful 55 years that my family was blessed to own and operate Frieze Harley-Davidson,” she said in a recent Facebook post. “May you continue your Harley passion and we look forward to seeing you on the road.”
