Low-Mile Harley-Davidson KK Is an Amazing Find
So, Harley headed back to the drawing board for 1953. Hotter cams, factory cylinder head porting and polishing, a roller bearing bottom end, larger valves and valve guides, and light roller tappets opened up the old motor. The factory hot rod was a big step in the right direction, and led to the design of the KH and KHK racers. Yet over that two year span of production, only a grand total of 3,693 K and KK motorcycles were built.
Which makes this 1953 Harley-Davidson KK, sporting only 9,710 original miles, a truly remarkable find. Unrestored and original, the old school racer is in impeccable condition for an old race bike. Obviously, there’s plenty of patina and pitted chrome here. But you’d be hard pressed to find another original KK in this kind of condition. Plus, above all, it serves as a nice reminder that Harley hasn’t always just built heavy cruisers!
