Upgrade Your Milwaukee Eight With These Screamin’ Eagle Tunes!

If there’s one subject that Harley-Davidson knows a thing or two about, is racing. While the iconic American motorcycle builder doesn’t dabble in the elitist world of MotoGP, they seem to rule just about every other disciple they enter, specially flat-track and drag racing.

When it comes to either one of those racing stages, Screamin’ Eagle is the tuning division that does all of the dirty (but fun) work for Harley-Davidson. Those guys are the ones that spend the months and even years fine-tuning, tweaking, and coming up with reputable (and warrantied) solutions that can take your Harley to the next level. Obviously, it was just a matter of time until they rolled out a brand new line of upgrades for their new Milwaukee Eight.

According to Cycle World, Harley-Davidson recently held a press drive at a drag strip in the outskirts of Milwaukee to show-off their new performance goodies, though Screamin’ Eagle took a new approach to how you one-up your ride. The famous performance parts catalog is still available for riders to individually buy parts as they please, but a new multi-stage upgrade system has also been put into place.

Milwaukee Eight owners can now purchase different stages of tunes, which are broken down in the following order:

  • Stage I (air flow – intake, exhaust, ECM)
  • Stage II (cam – torque or horsepower)
  • Stage III (bore and compression increase with cam)
  • Stage IV (new heads, throttle body)

Now, unlike most tuning related to automobiles, these stages don’t necessarily have to be purchased in multiple steps, as the Stage IV upgrade includes what the Stage III upgrade features, therefore only needing to buy one and not all four. Clearly, the price of the highest upgrade will be considerably more expensive than the first one.

The Stage III upgrade is bound to be the most popular and the more result-worthy of the bunch, as it’s the one that swaps out the cam, and that’s when you really start noticing big improvements in performance. That’s not the say the Stage IV isn’t worth it, but if you had to pick one, experts say the third option is the one to get.

Will you be upgrading your Milwaukee Eight?
