MY RIDE! 1972 Harley-Davidson 1340 Shovelhead

While sometimes change can be a blessing, sometimes the best thing is to stay the same. While this usually doesn’t apply to regular and expected change in our world, it can apply to things like build quality, styling, and other mechanical realities.

After all, wouldn’t it be nice is cell phones were as indestructible as the old Nokia bricks that everyone used to have? The same often goes for rides, both four-wheeled and two-wheeled. There was a time in the past when everything used to be simpler, miles per gallon wasn’t the biggest selling point, and styles were more rugged and tough. While there are some things we certainly do like about newer bikes, we do miss some quite a few things.

Today we’ll be stepping into the garage of HDForums member Richard, who is also known by his username saex, and taking a closer look at his outstanding ride that lies within!

Richard has been riding motorcycles since he was a child, and has been building them for over thirty years. To say the least, he’s a die hard Harley-Davidson fan. Of course, his experience isn’t the only thing that we find impressive!

Richard is also the proud owner of a 1972 Harley-Davidson 1340 Shovelhead. Judging by his photos, we’d say that he’s owned the ride for a long while now. It’s not often that we see a forty-four year old bike still ruling the roads, and so we have to applaud Richard for keeping this old beauty going!
