Ultra-Cheap Harley-Davidson Transformed Into Custom Bobber for $600
After purchasing the cheapest Harley-Davidson he could find, this YouTuber proceeded to work some real magic on it.
It goes without saying that new Harley-Davidson motorcycles aren’t exactly what most people would call affordable, for the most part. These days, folks shell out big bucks for the privilege of purchasing new motorcycles from the iconic manufacturer, which are generally chock full of tech features and other things that, well, some may not necessarily need or want. Luckily, there are deals to be found in the used market, which is precisely where the YouTube channel Vintage Harleys Revived scored this particular bike for a mere $1,400, and then transformed it into something special.
This old Harley-Davidson cranked but didn’t run, but more importantly, it was the cheapest one our host could find on Facebook Marketplace. Its condition didn’t really matter given the fact that the plan all along was to strip it down as much as possible, get rid of anything that isn’t necessary, and build a proper old school bobber. Since the bike sat outside for a number of years, the first thing our host did was clean it up, however.
From there, he started removing parts, which went into one of three piles – the trash, a bin for future builds, or to the side to be reused on this project. During that process, he opted to relocate the ignition switch, and of course, cut the rear fence to make it a proper bobber. Because our host is on the taller side, he also decides to move the seating position back by a couple of inches, and then installs a new headlight to replace the old, dim one.
Next up, our host opts to cut down the drag pipes to make them look a bit cleaner, after which it’s time to stack up the parts that need to be painted. He sands those parts down and resprays them in a nice matte black hue, and once that’s all dry, he starts putting everything back together – both repurposed parts and new ones.
With the engine fixed up and tuned properly, this old/new Harley-Davidson bobber build is looking and riding great, all for a total investment of $2,000 – including a mere $600 in parts and other goodies, which is one heck of a bargain by anyone’s standards.
