Took a little 2 day road trip, 686 miles from Kansas City, MO through southern MO.

Day one of my ride was great. Hi-way's K, 90, 37, 112, 76 and 160 was worth the drive down hi-way 49. Day 2 was not so great. 55 miles into a 260 mile day I heard a strange bang, clanging nose. The bike started handle strange. Slowing down I start looking for a gravel driveway since the road had no shoulders. Noticed the rear tire was half flat (I thought). I whipped out my can of fix a flat. It didn't work! I road the bike 5 or 6 miles to a convenience store. The closest Harley dealer was 35 mile away. Called them up and ask them to pick me up. Let me say Ozark Harley in Lebanon, MO was great. They off loaded my bike wheeled it in and had me back on the road again. To bad I could not complete my route. I ended up blasting down the interstate to get home 3 hours late. This is a picture of the hole in my tire. It was about 3/8 of an inch on the out side, 1/4 inch diameter on the inside.
The tire had 7209 miles with 7/32 tread wear left.

 

What pressure was your tire at before the flat?

 

40 PSI rear.

 

Glad all was OK. Since it was a road hazard - was the tire covered under warranty?

 

I didn't purchase the road hazard this time.

Southern MO. has some great riding roads. I was heading north west on state hi-way 17 west of Houston, MO. Might redo the route in 3 weeks when the trees turn colors.

 

The T&WW would have damn near paid for itself...
