I wished no one fixed this, make the MACO recall for this Issue, mine has a nice rub and will be replaced under warranty, for now as long as I'm covered It's the Maco problem. I do check though to make sure It's safe to ride.
X2 first I've heard of it. Glad you told me, I'm at about 6,000 and its got a large chunk out of it. Gonna get the dealership to put on a new one before my 1000 mile ride from AZ to CO first week of June.
both split wire conduit and soft side of velcro installed year ago... showed the wire wear point to the dealer then, they said, "huh, how about that." I fixed it myself, f#*%"<'em.
I have a '15 Ultra Limited with 9,000 miles; buddy has a '15 SGS with 11,000 miles. We both found the front spark plug wire wearing at the point where it contacts the fuel tank near the front cylinder. The routing needs to be corrected. Suggest you check yours before it becomes an issue. Easy fix.
Thanks for the heads up. Never heard this before. Just checked mine & it was rubbing. Only 2100 miles on it . Glad I saw this before we leave on our 4000+ mile ride !! Thanks again
Just throwing this out there, if the wire (rubber) part rubbed through enough could it send a spark (arc) onto the gas tank? I know sparks prefer bare metal but worst case scenario?
