Me too! I just finished a 3,500 mile ride and sure enough, there's wear right at that spot.

I wished no one fixed this, make the MACO recall for this Issue, mine has a nice rub and will be replaced under warranty, for now as long as I'm covered It's the Maco problem. I do check though to make sure It's safe to ride.

X2 first I've heard of it. Glad you told me, I'm at about 6,000 and its got a large chunk out of it. Gonna get the dealership to put on a new one before my 1000 mile ride from AZ to CO first week of June.

THANKS VERY MUCH FOR THE HEADS UP!!!

Last year i showed the service manager. He checked every bike on the floor, they were all contacting the frame/tank.

He rerouted mine a little and changed out the wire.

Interesting. I was just browsing and as my bike is right here, I checked it. Sure enough, it's starting to wear. Thanks, guys. I owe you beers.

both split wire conduit and soft side of velcro installed year ago... showed the wire wear point to the dealer then, they said, "huh, how about that." I fixed it myself, f#*%"<'em.

Thanks for the heads up. Never heard this before. Just checked mine & it was rubbing. Only 2100 miles on it . Glad I saw this before we leave on our 4000+ mile ride !! Thanks again

Just throwing this out there, if the wire (rubber) part rubbed through enough could it send a spark (arc) onto the gas tank? I know sparks prefer bare metal but worst case scenario?
