I opened google maps and started a navigation. I had forgot about it and put the Iphone in my pocket. I took off on my 2014 Flhtk and directions started coming over my headset. I had not set the GPS on the bike to navigate. Whenever the voice came on the screen it showed a call happening with my phone number, muting the music coming from my USB drive. I thought you had to have media set to your phone to hear directions?

 

Nope, obviously you have a wired headset (or the AKE or SENA BT adapters) and the phone is set to stream BT TO the Boom! Basically all audio from the phone streams via BT to the Boom!, then is played however you set it (speakers or headset). The GPS on the bike was likely not on, you were hearing the GPS from the phone.

 

But if my media is set to my USB drive why would directions come from phone. I thought you have to have Media set to your phone (bluetooth)?

 

But is the bluetooth "on" on the bike? If so, then it will connect automatically to the phone. Mine did the same thing up north. In my situation, the gps on the bike couldn't give me directions to the Tekhini Hot Springs as it was not programmed in it, but the phone did. To my surprise as well, the directions came from the speakers of the bike via the phone.

 

The bike thinks it's a phone call coming through. It's not playing media off the phone. Does the same thing in my F150. You have to turn the Bluetooth off on your phone or stop navigation on your phone to not hear it.
