Default Limited Security System

I traded my '09 Ultra for a '15 limited the first of September. This bike is supposed to have a security system similar to what my '09 Ultra had.

However I have noticed that unlike my '09, when I walk away from the '15 I wouldn't see signal lights flash indicating the system was armed. The '09 Ultra would flash the signal lights when you walked away from it indicating the system was armed.

Seeing as the '15 didn't act the same, nothing was indicating the security system was armed nor was there a security indicator light on the gauge cluster.

So I just walked outside to see if it would start with the FOB laying on my desk............FOB was a good 50 feet away. Bike started right up.

So am I missing something here? Does this bike in fact have the security system? It should have the security system being a limited, shouldn't it? And should I have the dealer look at it.

Sounds like either your other FOB is in a bag.. JK or your security system is not setup. The dealer does that during prep.

Yes, see your dealer.

Just an FYI, the second FOB is in my garage in my tool box on the other side of town.

So the selling dealer must of just not set up the system and a local dealer here should be able to do that?

Sounds like a trip the dealer. The lights should flash as well as a chirp from the siren if equipped. The fob range is stated to be less than 5 feet. You should have gotten two fobs with the bike. If you only have one it's possible the dealer left one somewhere on the bike to allow for moving & starting at the dealership. Check the saddle bags, dash ipod cubby hole and tour pak. If you don't find a fob call them and ask where they normally store the fob on the bike.

Don't forget about Valet mode. Don't need a fob when it's in the mode. Can move, start, etc., the bike. Don't ever use it, so I don't know the instructions off the top of my head for enabling and disabling it.

I have to be within arms reach of the bike for the Fob to work on my bike. Your security must be disabled. I would go to the dealer.

Something is definitely amiss, the security system is factory installed (smart siren optional), I am not aware of the dealer needing to set anything up, sounds like a trip to the dealer to get that sorted out. I had the optional siren installed by the dealer during predelivery, and they threw in a pager with the install.

Your bike may be in transport mode see the attached video

Yep, sounds like a trip to the dealer is going to be on the order of business.
