SYN3 in Primary - knocking

SYN3 in Primary - knocking
2016 SGS, just had 1000K service done and followed recommendation to change fluids to SYN3. Several days later noticed a loud clanking sound when in neutral and idling coming from primary. Sounded like something was loose knocking or several bolts churning. Happened when motor was hot. Called dealership to report - told me not to be concerned. Asked them to at least listen. Went there, mechanic tells me it is the self-adjusting mechanism that tightens chain. Told to get on throttle in 2nd or 3rd. I tried that and noise still obvious. Called another mechanic at different dealership and told that he had complaints of this happening when SYN3 used in primary. Suggested that I change back to original oil, which I did and amazingly the noise is gone. SYN3 and really SYN2. I am surprised my dealership was not aware of this...also, thought they should have paid for change. $380.00 for 100K service...The whole check everything so I don't have a problem with warranty. Last service they perform. If you experience knocking in the 103 engine after using SYN3 - change back.
