Default Back Rest

I installed my first back rest recently (the non adjustable type). Initially I was going to sell it because I was bolt upright and I don't have a small stomach and I felt pushed onto the tank. I tried it again today and it seems like it takes time to get used to riding with a back rest.
I feel locked in place, which might be good for long highway rides, but around town I feel trapped and I can't slide around on the seat or get the proper English when cornering.
Does anyone else feel like this? If I were the type to "mod" things I would try to bend the uprights holding the pad to allow me to slouch more in the seat. But I don't want to tear anything up. Does the adjustable seat allow for more slouch? I'm also leaning towards a mustang seat with a back rest to move me back, since I felt too cramped on the stock seat. I'm looking for ways to feel less cramped by the backrest. Last thing is it me or is the set spring useless?

Put some spacers on the front bolts of the mounting brackets. Make it lean back some. Might need longer bolts. But it might work and there is not chance to break something.

How tall are you? I'm about 6'1", could that be the difference?

yes, had 2 of them over the years, both adjustable but different pads. I've heard people say the adjustable pushed em forward as well?

That explains it, I knew I should have gone that route. I'm probably going to list this one for sale and get the adjustable one.
