SENA 20S Freewire Audio feedback Problem
#41
That is a workaround as well as just pairing the phone directly to the 20s and talk that way but that is not how it is advertised to work it is suppose to provide the exact function of how the BOOM works and there is no Side tone on the Boom system so there shouldn't be one when the Freewire is added to the mix.

I called Sena today and they first blamed the side tone issue on the Boom system saying there is a setting to turn on and off side tone but if that was the case I would have the issue with the wired headset. Then they blamed the side tone issue on the side tone setting on the 20s and it must be turned on and I said it wasn't and if it was I would have the side tone issue when the phone was paired to the 20s directly and during the intercom communications and I am not having the issue then.
It seems like they are pointing their fingers any anything except the freewire. The only thing that has me baffled is that some people are not experiencing the issue and it isn't across the board. Which makes me believe there are a bad batch of units out there. I had originally thought it was bad coding for the freewire where side tone was hard coded in the firmware but if that was the case it would be an issue across the board. So it must be defective units.

I believe this will get worked out at some point but it shouldn't be at the expense and aggravation of their customers.

so you are not getting side tone when talking on the phone? What year bike and what version firmware are you running on your Boom system?
Edit: I responded to this from my phone and didn't see your bike pic. We have same bike Mine is just a low. Are you on the most recent firmware? 1.21.0.4?

SENA Shuffle
1. I bought the Schuberth C4 helmet with the SENS SC1 comm. It was several calls to support to get it to work right and pair with two other C4 helmets.
I read the instructions which accompany the unit in the box and they are vague at best; then downloaded the online instructions and they didn’t clarify or help;
then called two different times to get instructions from Schuberth support and SENA support and received two different methods of pairing intercoms, neither of which worked.
Two friends and I fiddled with the systems for a couple sessions and got the intercom to work in a manner which did not resemble any prior instructions!?!
2. All three of us bought the Cavalry helmet with built in comm. The instructions came on a flip chart which were easy to follow – but the helmet could not be paired with two other Cavalry helmets!?!
Even following 3 calls to SENA support, we came up zip! We eventually figured out how to do it ourselves!
3. I purchased the Freewire for the H-D.
It is apparently defective. It will not charge. No red or blue LED will illuminate when plugged into the laptop OR the cigarette lighter OR a charging unit.
I’m beginning to think that the SENA products are JUNK or we should be kept away from electronics!

I have finally found a work around for the echo problem with Sena Freewire! First, pair your phone with both the Sena headset device your are using and the Harley Boom System. Go into Harley boom system and go into bluetooth devices connected. Click on your phone device that is connected to Boom. Disconnect "for Phone Connection". Leave your connect for audio connected in this section. Now go to your phone and go into connections/bluetooth. Connect your phone for only phone and not audio. Now, go into your audio routing section of your boom system. Make sure your audio routing is set to COM. Exit audio routing. Now your phone will be connected to your headset in your helmet and will not have an echo like when connected to boom. You can even use Sena speed dial and voice commands from your helmet! Music will play from the freewire/boom system into your helmet. If you get a call, the music will stop and you can answer the phone from the helmet or your phone if its mounted where you can access it. You just won't be able to answer the phone from the boom system. Other than that the phone call voice is extremely clear with no echo. Much better quality than the freewire connection. And music is great. One more tip, make sure you go into your phone audio settings and adjust your EQ for the best sound that suits you. And, if there is a sound enhancement setting click that too! It will improve the music sound in your helmet for sure. Now we have the best of both worlds!
