Default Rock wedged in sprocket

Noticed a noise from the rear end the other day. Took it to the shop and they found a rock wedged in the rear sprocket. Ruined the sprocket and belt.

Anyone ever experience similar?

Now THERE'S something you don't see every day. Good thing you're curious, you could have wound up stranded or worse...

I had this same thing happen years ago on my low rider. Pea gravel was lodged just like the pic. shows except it went partially thru the center of the belt. I took it to my dealer & they took the rock out & I rode it another 30,000 + miles with no problems. The teeth on the sprocket were not chipped & they told me since the hole was in the center not to worry about it.

You're not kidding. New belt and sprocket with labor $1200 and change. Insurance picking up all but $200

Yep, I had a rock punch a hole clean through the belt on a 04 Heritage. Bike was a warmed up 95" that I continued to ride the crap out of with that belt until I sold it. I put in the area of 20,000 on a holy belt......

YMMV

Had a rock caught in the rear sprocket on my FXR. Belt was torn about halfway across. Made it home about 50 miles then changed belt and sprocket.
