Default 2015 Road King handlebar install help

Hi all. Picked up my new to me 2015 Road King yesterday. Very happy with it. I had a Road Glide S before this, so I’m used to bagger handling. I have to say, this bike feels great. I guess it must be the 50 or so pounds off the front end, though the RG fairing was frame mounted, so who knows, But it just feels more nimble. Anyway...

First thing I want to do is put on some mildly taller bars. Have some Wild1 12” outlaw apes arriving tomorrow, so I’d like to be prepared. I have a service manual, but it’s pretty light on the handlebar section. Nor can I find any videos specific to Rushmore RK’s. So I’m hoping someone here can help out with a few questions.

First, from what I see, all the connectors are in the nacelle, so the headlight needs to come out, but does the entire nacelle need to come off? I also want to install poly bushings as well. Next, do the 15’s use the new small JAE connectors for the switch packs? What about the tbw, does it use the new small connectors like this? (That’s my Low Riders)

Lastly, if anyone knows of a video for the Rushmore specific Road King you can point my to, that would be a big help.

Thanks all, and wish me luck..

Oh, here’s the bike:

Chad, this is the only thing that I could come across, not sure if it will answer all your concerns or not. Nice RK by the way, I see you have already gotten rid of the LRS too, man you have a high turn over on bikes.

Yeah, I saw that (I like his videos) but it’s a 2018/19 special. I expect differences. Oh well, i’ll prob be able to figure it out.

Thanks

Here's the wiring and what connectors you'll need to push/pull through the bars:

Nice bike! Good luck with the bar installation.

Thanks. Interesting, this looks like the TBW cable is two part. Looks like the connectors in the middle of the cable will make pulling it down the bar, real fun. Though if thats a deutsch connector at the end, thats a hell of a lot easier to depin then the new style JAE micro 6 pin connectors...

Hey MCHAD, I did my own bars on my 14 RK. Wild 1 chubby Reapers, 12" It wasn't too much of a pain. You WILL need at least NAMZ 4" extensions, I went with 8" because the 4's seem to be close and they were about the same price. Got them off ebay. I did a write up a while ago but can't find it. I had to cut about 3/8 off the left bar because I added heated grips. Best to do it now when you have them apart.
I took the entire nacelle off because you will need the room to install the bushings. The easy way is to use a C claim to pre squeeze the bushing together and make install a lot easier. see photos. If you go with heated grips, now is the time to install. You will need to notch the switch housing a little relieve for the wire harness. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/new-r...nd-wiring.html

Also when you run the wiring, I pulled the wires off the switch housings and ran them from the bottom up. I will post some pictures.
