Almost $700 to install heated grips!
So I bought my 2014 SGS last weekend and added like 5 grand of stuff to it, which included new bars. So I called today to see what it would cost to have heated grips installed at the same time. The grips were $199.95 and they told me it would be 5 hours to install at $ 100 an hour. I said you are already have everything apart and your still going to charge me for 5 hours! That's bullsh%$t!! I had a great experience there up to this point. I called my salesman and said you have to do something for me! So he was supposed to call me back today and I never got a call back. And they are closed the next two days, damn it! Is this ridiculous or what? And yes I know its a Harley shop but come on I just dropped over 31 grand!

Kickstand,
What grips are you having installed? My FLHTK came with the factory internally wired heated grips and I have the whole "Chrome & Rubber" collection on my bike except for the Grips, which they offer in a heated version. However, my HD tech at my dealer says they cant be internally wired; which I think is BS....

I purchased my 2014 Ultra in September, the dealer installed the following & switched over items from the 2011 Ultra I traded, all for 8 hrs labor. Note that the labor rate here is $80/hr, totalled $640 labor + 13% tax.
Installed: Heated Grips, Premium Tour Pack luggage rack, Premium Ride touring front end lowering kit, and Screaming Eagle plug wires.
Switched from my 2011: Rider and passenger floor board inserts, brake & shifter inserts, rear Premium ride lowering shocks, Vance & Hines Twin Slash slip ons.
Seems like the $700 for heated grips is a LITTLE TOO MUCH!!!

Heated grips are not worth having for $700.
There is no way it will take anyone who knows what they're doing 5 hrs. to install heated grips.
If it's already apart? Maybe an extra hour labor.
I would tell them to button it up and move on.
I guess some would say if your not doing the work yourself, you gotta pay to play, but that seems more then excessive.
I'd skip the heated grips and install any future upgrades myself.
