Why won't '13 seats fit '14s?

The Mustang SuperTourer w/riders backrest from my '12 Limited fits just fine on my '14. I do see where the passenger part looks narrower since the '14 tourpak is 2" wider between the speakers. Not sure if the new tourpak is taller, but it s definitely wider. The wife has had no issues.

My '11 Sundowner Fits fine with my king tourpak with quick release. Infact it looks like it was made for it.
I looked up the spec difference and the 2014 sundowner is narrower. So if your ol lady likes a wide seat stick with an old one.
No mods and no problems. Perhaps if I want to add rear speakers it will be too wide. But I never plan to add speakers.

FWIW, I just ordered a '13 seat for my '14 Ultra (I think the last revision was in 2010); I liked the stock seat on my '13 Ultra. Hopefully it doesn't look too goofy (I ride solo, so that's not an issue)
I have a '14 Hammock; it's OK, but it's not as good as the stocker on my '13 was (for me in any event). I tried sending my stock '14 seat to Mean City, but I'm unhappy with the result thus far... and a bit disappointed with the fit of the cover after they worked on it (in all fairness, I haven't had opportunity to work with them trying to make it right... no time at present)

seats for 2014
I do have a really nice Mustang seat, with back rest and black pearl accents, if anyone is interest. I was looking for it to lower me but the 1/2 inch difference didnt do it. I have taken the plunge and gone for the Fatbaggers drop seat frame kit. I got 30K in the bike now so what the hell is 2k gonna matter now anyways.

I had to replace my seat on my 13 Road Glide Ultra and used a take-off from a 14 Limited on it with no issues, however I now own a 14 Limited, lol.
