Default New Rushmore Down

Last Friday I thought I would go for leisurely afternoon bike ride.Nice day, cruise set listening to jams. What a great day!!!! Then out of no where a deer jumped out in front of me. Just had time to hit the brakes, hit the deer in the ribs and down I went. After 2 ambulance rides wound up in Munson hospital for surgery. Broke both tib and fib in left leg. Several broken ribs and road rash. Thank god I always were a helmet, it took the brunt of head damage. Leather gloves were torn and ripped and steel toe boots were scraped down. All in all I feel pretty lucky. Got home last night now about 3 to 4 months off. Now waiting for insurance adjuster, I was hoping it will be totaled but from the pics I scene just fairing and left side road rash. Hope because only 3 weeks old it will be gone. Thanks Bob

Glad you are okay. Same thing to me February 27. Maiden voyage of Russell Day Long seat with 470 miles on the bike. Hit a deer at 55 and went down. Broken fib, ankle and hand. Had 2 surgeries and now have hardware in my leg. The bike had 16G in damage but needed 2G more for the insurance company to total it so I got it back better then new (added stage 1 while it was in shop) and have put 9,000 miles on it since I started riding again May 30th...Rest and do what the doc says, you will be back in the saddle in no time......

Best of luck with your recovery process. Either way bike can be replaced, we can not.

Yes deer are a big problem here in Mi. Glad your going to be ok. I don't have my helmet on most of the time, I know I should but it feels so great with out them. I keep trying to re-think this but so far I keep walking that tight rope.

Been down that road myself this past Oct. 10 th.
Still healing up, but crap....I'm old.
My bike didn't look too bad either but was totaled when the crash bar pulled from the frame. Lots of labor to redo a frame.
Wishing the best on healing!
