Mine shuts off with minor pressure on either brake. I can see why they designed it to shut down when the brakes or clutch are used. I use the off switch or rolling the throttle to deactiveate, but still test the brake method occasionally just to know it still works.

My front brake seems to turn off the cruise with a tap while the rear brake takes a few times. Either way, I found it easier to just twist the throttle forward.

I remember seeing this thread a while ago. I tried it then and didn't have the issue.

On a recent trip I tapped my front brake and the Cruise did not dis-engage.... I hit it a little harder... nothing.... I hit it hard enough to dip the front end and have the engine bog down from the braking and still the cruise did not dis-engage... I wasn't brave enough to look around and see if the lights light up.. but when I got home I tried the front and they come on with just a tap. Taking it in for the 10,000 mile service on Monday will have HD look at it and let me know what is up.

Try it again. If the brake lights are working with a light tap, then the BCM is getting the signal & it should work. Lots of electrical bugs/glitches are related to voltage drops when starting the bike before the full boot-up handshaking is done. BCM has to recognize all inputs & then direct the proper response to the correct circuits, including brake light circuits & CC deactivation signal to ECM.

So I just went out and tried it, engine off switch in run: rear brake lights up, front brakes do not. Engine on same thing.

So the front brake switch is faulty? You're not the first to report this issue.

A gentle tap of the brakes is all it takes for mine. I haven't tried rolling the throttle forward yet.

Doing some research on my cruise control not releasing on front brake application and came across this site and posting. Went out to check when my brake light comes on and noticed that I have to squeeze the lever fairly hard before it does. I assume this is why the cruise control is not releasing.

I rarely squeeze the brake lever this hard riding around town unless at a last minute red light or something, and it's got me a bit worried that unless I'm really on it the brake the light isn't coming on and I might get rear ended because someone didn't notice I was slowing.

Thanks to everyone that posted info in this thread. I'm going to take it in asap.
