compensator knock?
I thought I saw a thread on this, but can't seem to find it. If someone can point me to it, thanks!
Anyway, 2014 FLHTK, just under 5K miles.
I got this "knock". Sometimes it's intermittent but it seems to be getting more regular. Particularly today, it was hot enough to kick the fans on when I parked in the garage, not sure if that has anything to do with it, because it has done this cold too.
Best way to get it to happen is in neutral, on the kickstand. Seems to be coming from the left side of the bike, around the primary case. Give it a little twist of the throttle, it goes away. Let it idle for a bit and it's back. Kind of sounds like someone taking a ball-peen hammer and going "thunk thunk thunk" but from the innerds of the bike. Does it sitting at a stop light in gear, clutch in too but maybe I don't notice it as much over the tunes.
Anyway, is this making any sense to anyone?

Ahhh... the "that's normal" response
OK, so it's not just me, that's a relief. My 2010 FLHTCU had it BAD, especially when like, pulling up a hill from a stop with the Mrs riding pillion. Service Writer wouldn't go for a new comp. but they did crank down on the nut and made it shut up. Ran and sounded fine for the additional 60K miles I put on it before I got this one.
Just sounds like ***, like a loose crank bearing or something.
I guess, ride the snot out of it until it breaks while still in warranty, eh?

Mine had the same problem. Took it to my dealer and they listened to it and said it was not normal. Mechanic called MoCo and found that they were aware of it. Told him to place 2 .031 shims behind the spring pack on the compensator. That took care of all the noise on my 2014 Limited.
Any chance there is a service bulletin or something I can track down and wave in front of my service writer?
