Default Back Rest

I installed the HD adjustable backrest and I don't really like it. I'm not comfortable leaning back on it and can't get a good position for it since the lever to adjust it makes me have to reach down and puts me out of my sitting up position and it springs fireward. Am I the only one that feels to have wasted money on this set up? Is there a relocation option for the adjustment lever?

I adjust it while on the bike, sometimes on the fly. Lever is under/near the left side heat shield, I can reach down, pull the lever and either push back or lean forward and the back rest will move either way. You sure you have the lever in the right place, I know the instructions were pretty vague and I searched the internet until I found a video on how to install it. Good luck!

I have the non adjustable, well not adjustable on the fly anyway, and that has to be the best add on I've done to my ride. Used to think that those backrests were for old guys....oh wait.. I guess they are!!

Everyone told me how great the backrest was, and how much I'd love it. Well, it took some gettin' used to.

The biggest change was that it totally changed my riding posture. I tended to slump a little as the ride got longer, which caused my lower back to sag to the rear and my torso to drop, and my arms to reach a little. The backrest keeps me more upright, keeps my lower back in a MUCH more comfortable position. However, it moved me a little closer to the bars, which gave my elbows a little more bend, which took some time to get used to.

And, of course, you will have to try different backrest positions until you find the one you like best.

Bottom line, give it a little more time before you give up. I think you'll find out you're much, much more comfortable as your rides get longer.

The problem is I'm only 5ft 9 in and can't just reach down without leaning over and down a bit to reach the adjuster. And I agree with the feeling of being pushed on the tank. I only use it for about 5 minutes then push it back so its not touching my back at all.
