Default Boom Screen Protector

I was wiping the dew off the gauges and when I wiped the face of the Boom screen, it looked like something was on there. Wiped a little more and it got bigger. Touched it with my fingernail and the face started to flake off. Is there a face protector on the Boom screen? Is it something easy to replace? BTW, I was using a microfiber cloth with minor pressure.

Yes - there is a protector. You can buy them - just like the protectors on your cell phone.

You can buy from Harley - or, try these.

Every reason to believe that if you need warranty or ESP coverage, use of the non-HD protector will void coverage.

The image is from page 202 of the manual.

Thanks Jeff. Perhaps you read it better that I did- but, I am not confident that another protector voids the warranty.

You may be right but if the MoCo is looking for a reason to deny coverage, seeing an aftermarket protector could do it.

I had a Voyager (hated it) and some stripped out spark plug threads. The insurance adjuster for the ESP took a picture and coverage was denied. The Voyager had a trailer hitch and even though I never pulled a trailer, the picture showed a hitch. What should have been a $50 co-pay was about $1,100. The insurance company argued that the extra weight of pulling a trailer stressed the threads (pure BS). It took about 2 weeks and some behind the scene phone calls but my ESP was restored and the repair was covered.

For what the cycle cost including the add-ons, I'm going to ensure that the warranty or ESP is not compromised. If it's out of coverage, I would use a cheaper aftermarket film.

Sorry to hear about the issues with the Voyager - I think that is also a nice bike.

Often, in my opinion, dealership connections can make or break some of these claims. My dealer here, ABC Harley Davidson, is pretty customer oriented and I am certain they will do all they can to assist in these matters.

My bet, you can't tell the difference in the screen protectors. My OEM tires were Dunlop. Bet if I put on Michelin, they will be covered under the extended service plan

I should have clarified. It was the Voyager trike conversion kit (AKA Training Wheels).

They all come with a trailer hitch.

Ahhhh, now I understand.

I use to ride Gold Wings - their practice - if you convert your bike to a trike, it completely voids the warrant. There have been tons of fights over that

I recently had the same issue with my screen protector. Same scenario: dew on face, micro fiber wipe, face disintegrated. I went to my dealer and asked about warranty coverage; still waiting for the answer. We'll see.
