Basic Instructions for Outer Fairing Removal?
Before you read further, I have a manual on order (Kutter HD) - arrives next week. I know there's no shortage of folk that would like to chastise me for even asking this question however, please suspend all righteous indignation and give me a few pointers.
I need to remove my outer fairing. I'm going in with the assumption that the process is similar to my 2010 Ultra. If there's anything additional that I need to know I'd be grateful of a few pointers.
Thank you in advance!

Put old socks over your cruise/spots lights to prevent scratching the fairing. Remove 3 bolts and the windshield. Remove the 4 inner fairing bolts. Lift fairing up and out a little, just enough to unplug the headlight molex plug and your done. That simple.
Well that's exactly what I used to do for my 2010 so I guess there really are no 2014 specific aspects then. Cool. Anything to do with the air chute (or what ever it's called)?
Nope. Remove it the same as you did for your '10.
Excellent! Thanks to you and Ghostrider. Still have my 2010 Service Manual so I'll use torque values from it also.

I covered the spots the first time but later I found they are so easy to remove its just not worth the trouble - getting the outer off with them removed is sooo much easier. Just remove the two bolts on each one and the plug is right there, doesn't take a minute per side. After that just remove the windshield screws and the 4 on the inner and its off.

Wasn't the plug for the old version up inside the fairing? That would make it mandatory to leave them in place - with the new one having the plug right there under the bracket it makes sense to just get them out of the way.
