Thanks for the input Frank. What I've got are HD OEM fangs that the po had drilled to fit. I may try it.

I assume the install is remove the shield, remove the bolts and reinstall them with the fang underneath it? Pretty simple, no?

The only time the engine gets hot is when you are just crawling in traffic and the fangs shouldn't really be a factor then because there's no airflow anyway.

When I did the temperature test I could really tell the difference in buffeting and wind noise. They really do dramatically reduce both.

Here are some pics of the fangs mounts.

The blue tape of the right side backet is intended to show how close the bracket is to the fork. There is virtually no air flow between the fork and upper bracket. If the brackets were mounted on the outside if the windshield dock, there would be a 3/8 to 1/2 inch gap to allow air flow. Hope this is what you needed.

Thanks tx freebird. Those help a lot. I might just have to give these a shot. I'm using Desert Dawg vinyl lowers and they've actually cut down some of the buffeting coming from below the tank but I wouldn't want to use them in the summer months. I need to decide whether to use the OEM units I already have that have been drilled out to fit our bikes of order a set like yours.

In all sincerity I cant' believe HD hasn't come out with these for our rides. Seems like a lost revenue source but what do I know. I'm just a consumer.

I hope to make it to the Hill Country when it warms up some. What part of that area are you in?

Exchanged my Saddlemen Explorer, which was almost new, for a new one that included a backrest. Delivered by UPS today and I installed it.

You ever faced a cold wight?

The sig pic of my bike is not of the new Saddlemen, it's my old one with a backrest that I fabricated. Worked well enough but I would have had to remove it to use the pillion.

Yep, I did. Haven't seen the series but I've read the books. I wish he'd finish the last one.

I received, but have not yet installed (because my '18 FXBB is in winter storage at my dealership), a full complement of Rogue Rider LED replacement lights (front turn signals, rear turn signal/brake lights).

Vinyl wrapped upper forks... well kept friend (the more crafty one) company while he did it.
