Hydraulic under seat adjustment / bolt sheared off
I removed my seat today to inspect battery connections. Something looked odd with the placement of my shock adjuster. It was wedged between the shock and the fender. The bolt that mounts it to the bracket had sheared off.
hydraulic under-seat shock adjuster lodged between shock and fender.
un-lodged from fender. notice the sheared bolt.
Luckily I was able to backout the sheared bolt and can then remount.
Other Heritage owners, is your fender bent like that under the seat or did that fender shape result from the adjuster being wedged in like that? I had to compress the shock to un-lodge it and I could see the fender bending as I did it.
I really didn't notice or feel anything different about the bike. It's been running great and feels great too.

Mine did that too - twice. The first time the dealer found it and remounted it and replaced the fender. The second time I found it. I remounted it with a grade 8 screw. Last time I was under the seat it was still where it belonged.
I couldn't figure out why it broke. Did you see anything that might be stressing it?

Saying goes, "it didn't happen with no pictures". Would be interesting to see how much of a ding with it properly positioned and cleaned up.

I have a 2018 Heritage, had EXACTLY the same thing happen yesterday, adjuster wedged between the shock and caved in fender, just the same. Supposed to hear from the dealer tomorrow on repairs. I’m thinking they either over tightened the bolt, need a stronger bolt or possibly even a support bracket of some sort on the open end of the adjuster to give it some support .
