To me the new Softail frame and M8 engines are much better than the Dyna's. I can speak from experience on that as I had a 2014.5 Low Rider (not the S) and currently have a 2018 Fat Bob 114.

Yeah I’ve always been a Dyna fan... I’m torn between the two only because now the suspension is so much more advanced and it’s tough to decide

If you can ride them both back to back that would really show the changes.

I not a big fan of the forward controls and it’s been very hard to find out if they can be brought back to minds without taking the whole bike apart

I had the choice and got the Low Rider S. Depends what you're after. The new Softails have a better chassis and smoother engine, and the 114 is faster (just). The Low Rider S is raw and more exciting to ride. I could go on about looks, but that's all subjective. The FXDLS is also a piece of Moco history, the last and greatest Dyna. If you're one of those people that worry about resale, then the Low Rider S is going to keep it's value better than the Fat Bob.

Has anyone heard of being able to convert the new fat bob to minds? From what I’ve seen and read ill have to change the primary case and obviously the exhaust but that’s getting swapped out no matter what..
