All I can say is that I love my Deluxe. I added the cruise control, detachable bags, a recurve shield, fangs, and backrest. I love the fact that I can go from a bare bike to a light duty touring bike in a matter of minutes. I typically ride it bare and only put on the touring gear when I need it (I should note that I'm 65 now and am NOT doing 600 mile days back to back to back anymore). Good luck with your quest!

Planning on picking up similar gear for mine. Which shield and bags did you go with?

I just did the same - traded my ‘17 Road King for a ‘19 Deluxe. The stock seat will have to be replaced for touring, but I had to do the same on my RK. I’ll add cruise, a windshield and a pair of LeatherPros bags and I think I’ve got a much better bike for my purposes overall - the weight, suspension and handling advantages of the Deluxe vs. the RK can’t be overstated, and I love the looks and the ability to strip it down for day to day use.

On the other hand I’m looking forward to seeing what The MoCo does to the touring series once it finally gets around to it - a monoshock frame, considerable diet and ideally bags you can take off the Road King without it looking like **** would be compelling.,

I love my Deluxe and have done several 4-6 hour rides (300-400 miles). Not real "Touring" grade rides but comfortable enough. I got mine outfitted similar to a Heritage (Windshield, bags, engine guards, and I even added cruise control). So I got the features I wanted with a "classic chrome and whitewall" look. Check out pics posted here https://www.hdforums.com/forum/showt...1287330&page=1 .

IMHO: get what speaks to you, and make the required alterations.

You guys sold me on the Delux!
I didn't know you could put a cruise control on it. Good to know.
Here’s the million dollar question? Do you guys think $16.5 is a fair deal for a 19 with 2k miles. Bike looks perfect. The bike is for sale at a non HD dealership.

Thanks again everyone.

IMHO, you have the power to negotiate aggressively: at that price (I assume it has no accessories yet), it's within a few $k of a new one. That's what they want you to believe and up sell you a new model. So, I would make them add some accessories (maybe the cruise and bags), and keep the price stable. They will say "can't do it", so you say: "well, what can you do?" And then negotiate from there.

Work on an "out the door" price so you aren't surprised with taxes and fees at the end.

Good Luck!

I misread tour post. Is the non-HD Dealership able to offer any warranty? A new HD will come with 2 years Of warranty. You should weigh that in your decision and/or use it as a negotiating point.

Looking at a black Delux right now.

Thanks for all all the comments.
I really like the look of the Deluxe, but I wanted the extra suspension in the Heritage. I did a "bit" of modifications to my Heritage to make it look a bit more like a Deluxe.

Here are a couple of threads on the mods I did to make it look more like a Deluxe AND be more comfortable- https://www.hdforums.com/forum/softa...thank-you.html

Not an M8, Not really a Heritage or a Deluxe anymore...a little of both.

The new M8 Softails are great, I would prefer one of them over the M8 RK.
