About that Fat Bob 3.6-gallon gas tank...
I find myself taking long trips on the Fat Bob much more than I ever expected; just racked up another 2400 miles last week. And that tiny gas tank is such an inconvenience.
It has a stated capacity of 3.6 gallons. I got tired of stopping for gas so frequently, so I started running it longer and longer. This last run the tank was on LOW for a while, and when I went to fill it, I got this picture:
So, yeah, that's cutting it pretty close! A bigger gas tank is in my future.

Went with the FXDR instead.

Went to the dealer to check out a 2017 Low Rider S and came home with the 2018 Fat Bob. The only things I didn't like about the Fat Bob were the huge front tire and the small tank.
Now HD comes out with the 2020 Low Rider S and I have made too many mods to my bike for me to sell and buy another. I am one that keeps an auto or bike 10+ years, always have been.
I have already changed to a 19" front wheel, guess a 5 gallon tank is next

Yeah it's a bit of a pain in the *** at times that's for sure. I have been looking at a Sportglide tank for mine but it is pretty pricey since the speedo and fuel pump needs to be purchased with the tank.
As far as firmentfitment goes the Sportglide tank bolts right up and looks like it belongs.

T'hell with that.
I decided to do it on the cheap. I wanted my Fat Bob to still look like a Fat Bob, and I wanted the big analog tachometer. I didn't want Sport Glide or Fat Boy instruments or big dash trim. And I sure didn't want to spend $3,0000.
So I got a Fat Boy tank off eBay, $230 + shipping. And a pump from Surdyke, $310. Oh, and I had to buy a fake cap for the left side, and some fuel pump and tank vent screws. All told, it was about $600 out of pocket, and I expect I will be able to sell the old tank and pump and get a couple hundred back, so net cost would be as low as about $400.
Which is all to say, yesterday I finished installing the 5 gallon tank and I FREAKING LOVE IT!!!!!

I went to the dealer to do some measurements, and we got to talking and he said that by the time I got the tank, had it painted, put on the new instruments and the new tank trim and everything, I'd be looking at $2,500 to $3,000.
T'hell with that.

Well, first I had to saw the Fat Boy emblems off the tank with fishing line, and then work some Goo Gone for quite a while to remove the adhesive. Once that was done, I did a test fitting.
It bolts up just fine. But I did discover the unsightly gap that the other guy also found, if your seat doesn't overlap the tank front you'll have a gap.
so that's ugly as hell, and something I have plans to rectify in the future, but for now I am using my Sundowner seat, which covers the gap nicely.
