Default M8 temps ( HOT) !

Hi everyone,
Not sure if this has been brought up, I have a 22 fatboy 114 with a stage one. HD prostreet tuner, replaced the stock ventilator with SE round air filter and Rinehart slip ons. I live in south Florida and last Thursday i saw my engine temp the highest i have ever seen it, 311 degrees. mind this is the engine temp right form the SE prostreet tuner app. We were riding in the city and there was stop and go and it was unbearably hot, about 90 degrees and humidity was way up there as well. Is this normal or acceptable for the engine? once you get on the highway it will settle to 280 or so in this weather. EITMS usually kicks in around 290 or so. I know the actual oil temp lags somewhat behind the engine temp reading. I have since changed my oil to Sae 60w and trans and primary to HD 75w140.

Is there a question here? Normal. Ride on...

This is what happens when you measure things.

Yes, LOL I guess i got overwhelmed by the data (paralysis by data). are these temp considered borderline damaging to the engine, What the MOCOs take if anyone knows. I have followed all recommendations in the owners manual , SAE60 for temps above 80.

here's something that will blow your mind! after over a century Harley knows their air cooled engines are hot running machines, and for over a century has been building them to be able to withstand the heat..tens of millions of them have been ridden for hundreds of millions of miles in Summer heat just like yours has and they aren't littering the highways with buzzards circling overhead..you followed the manufacturer's recommendation and now all there is left to do is ride and have fun on your bike

I was more concern about the engine than anything, I come form the automotive transportation side of things, usually liquid cooled diesels and even with all the emission junk 220--230 tops. thanks for the clarification.

My 07 96TC will hit over 230 deg. when ambient temps are 90+ deg., in slow traffic. Have had to stop and cool off a few times. Learn to live with it. All normal.
