Jump start street bob
As you know guys the battery is hidden away on the softail street bob ,my bike is not getting used over winter but I start it say every two weeks and it’s fine, but if I ever need to jump it it seems there’s no access to the terminals unless u totally r move the battery itself is ther any way of jumping it in situ
As mentioned earlier.
Most folks forget that starter has a positive lug/bolt/nut under the rubber cover that is right on the starter.
No need to remove seat and the power goes straight to starter.
That lug/bolt/nut is a direct wire to positive battery post.
A smaller than automotive clamp would have little trouble reaching it.
For ground use any solid bare metal...NOT the axle but instead something like the slip-on muffler clamp bolt/nut.

If someone has a pic of where the starter lug is, that would be great. I think for the softies that dont have the outside shock adj, it is accessible.

At about 1:15 the video will show the starter lug used for positive and later show a possible ground connection.
If your clamps are too large some bikes might have a problem with exhaust.
I find it a good idea to place a folded bandana on exhaust if pipe is near starter just to avoid an accidental rub of positive cable against exhaust since exhaust will act as a ground and you could damage chrome cover.
You might notice that RED clamp is rather close to exhaust in video. That is why i put my folded bandana on that pipe.
I made a set of jumper cables a long time ago with trolling motor clamps and some multi-strand cable.
Folds very small and has been used multiple times to rescue others.
I let sick bike sit for a minute with cables attached to introduce a float charge and then crank.
Helped many upset and flustered individuals trying to remove seats when the lug was accessible.

It's impossible to get a jump lead to the starter positive on most (if not all) of these 2018+ Softail.
The best approach to jump start is to use a big long crosshead screwdriver to contact the battery positive and attach the jump clamp to that. The negative lead is easy to find somewhere to attach.
My long term recommendation though would be to add a remote positive terminal next time you have the battery out.
