air cleaner Embale/insert on 114
bike is a week old took the 114 insert off the air cleaner the other day in order to put a larger filter in from fuel moto in preparation for a stage one upgrade at the dealer. long story sort the nut on back of the chrome plate came loose and now of course i cant get the 114 emblem back on the air cleaner.
the harley shop says its not covered under warranty because I took the emblem off not them. called customer service at head quarters and they said the same thing. so is that true - they can say its not a factory defect the nut came off the back of the plate? sounds like BS.

I assume it is a defect , the nut is somehow swaged into the cover right ?
I assume their logic is similar to you removing & reinstalling something and coming back with stripped threads , I get that.
BUT if I just sold you a new bike I`d just order a new cover ( $80 retail) and call it goodwill

sounds like another crappy dealer.......
thanks for the post though, I just took my emblem and cover off to check how
much oil is blowing into the air filter...... ( a little spray). I didn't notice the nuts
holding the emblem, but next time I check...... will definitely look at them for
defects.
