I picked up some bags last year for trips.
But now that ive gone to a solo with and without the passenger pad.
As well as new paint i didnt want the bags on my rear fender paint.
I dont care what you use it still gets beaten up.
So i took my detach back rest apart.
Drilled holes in the side plates.
used two small carriage bolts (from the inside) and a brace inside to keep it from flappin in the wind.
Cut the throw over flaps completely off,drilled 2 holes in each bag and used a 3/8 teflon spacer 1.5 inch by 6.5 x 3/8 thick to keep the bag level with the detach bolts at the lowest point of contact from the sideplate.
Now when i get to where im goin i just pop my quick release and the bags with pack attached to the rack and bar come off in one shot .
Same as a quick release backrest .
Tomorrow ill post some pics in stages as i get ready to finish the job.
I need one more bolt.

Here is an air cleaner cover I made out of a Smith & Wesson hitch cover. I bought the hitch cover at a local U-haul for $25 but you can find them online if you do a search. I discarded the hitch brackets and drilled a hole in the center. I did have to get a longer bolt because the material is about a 1/4" thick and the stock AC bolt was only on by about a tread. anyway much cheaper then any AC cover I have seen made for a bike and looks cool too.

Cheap BCT baffles imitations?
I saw a few pictures of what the BCT baffles look like, but did not feel like spending the money for them. Not yet anyway, so I thought of this idea in the mean time. I took out my standard Vance and Hines baffles that come with the Big Shots and attached these eyebolts into the end cap of each pipe to hopefully give about the same amount of back pressure. The bike is up on the lift when I did this, so have not been able to test it yet. Still waiting to get my 21" wheel on the bike. Let me know what you guys think.

i put on my home made vertical curved side mount license plate bracket and then removed the tail light. to fill that gaping hole i took some plexy glass to the grinder and heated it up with a torch to curve and bend it and this is what came out. let me know what ya think. sorry for the phone pic

Semi-QD Saddlebag mount
For those that want to be able to easily remove saddlebags, I got this idea from others on this forum, but can never find a description to pass it along to those looking for a cheap & clean solution so I wrote this up.
Parts list (assuming you already have the bags and QD backrest hardware):
3' of 3/8x16" threaded rod (1' would do)
4 Acorn nuts
4 1/2" chrome spacers (for when you gotta go bag-less)
4 large fender washers (inside bag - between bag and acorn nut)
Cut 3/8" threaded rod to 2.75" for front, and 3.0" for rear. After cleaning up the threads, run them through the struts, fender, and thread them into the bracket behind the fender using blue lock-tite.
A low profile jam nut holds the fender mounting bracket and docking hardware in place while removing or attaching bags. This makes it a 2 min process to switch the bags on or off.
Add a 1/2 inch chrome spacer when riding without bags.
