Wow man, you put a lotta work into this post. Thanks. You seem to be in the know, so I have an issue you might be able to help me with. I am new to the Boom box thing. I bought it used 2016 SGS and sound was working great. Then out of the blue, no sound. When you try to adjust the screen shows sound going up and. down, but no sound. I found a U0185 code in DTC which says amp 1 fail to communicate. What exactly does that mean? I don't have an external amp that I can see, so not sure what's happening. Got any ideas?

Figured I'd ask for opinions on a 2018 Road Glide Special stereo upgrade since I know little about this. I have a factory system and as you know it leaves a lot to be desired especially at highway speeds. I want a system that sounds good and I can hear on the highways but as others have said I'm not looking to win a jam contest. I would like to keep the factory head unit and work from there. If it's not too much trouble what would you recommend and where should I purchase from. If need be I would be willing to put saddle bag speakers if they would make a needed difference.

Start by creating your own thread. Then tell us what your budget is, what type of music you listen to, where you want to add speakers, and if you want to install yourself or have someone else do the work for you.
First off, I am new to hdforums and new to forums all together. I read some, but don't post. Just wanted to say this is really good info and thank you very much!! I also see that there are a lot of people that want to help others, that is awesome!
So i have a 2016 street glide special that i just ordered a set of Mmats PA601CX in 4ohms. I'm trying to piece together a simple setup as i just want to do the fairing speakers. I was looking at the sound digital 800.4 Evox amp and a dsr1 dsp. Is that a ok setup? I'm trying to do all the research before i purchase everything. The reason I'm looking at the 800.4 is later down the line I'm thinking of adding rear lid speakers. Is that a good choice of amp for eventually adding rears later on?
