Out of curiosity, how many here ride with a full face and ear plugs? I do, and wasn't previously happy using the stereo in my aftermarket Road King fairing. Can good sound actually be achieved under those circumstances or is this going to be a fruitless endeavor?

 

I assume by ear plugs you mean the kind that stick into your ears. If so, then you would get perfectly fine quality from an iPod or smart phone.

 

Skip the stereo and ear plugs and just wear headphones like trigeezer said. Great sound that way

 

The upshot to the stereo is having an audio interface mounted somewhere within reach. With headphones, I'm stuck with whatever is coming out of my phone without pulling over and changing it. With the stereo, I can skip songs, change volume easily, etc.

I was mostly curious if anyone here spending big bucks on stereos rode in that condition, to see if it might be worth pursuing.

 

Iron Aces mount for your phone with bluetooth speakers would be your best bet. It's going to be expensive and overkill to pump your stereo up loud enough to get quality audio while wearing a full face or with earplugs

 

try try doing a forum search. There have been a few that have been working on Bluetooth earbuds/headsets.

Bluetooth music / Nav prompts from our phones. The music quality is great with the included speakers or the Cardos (the models that we use) have a 3.5mm jack to plug in earbuds / aftermarket speakers if you prefer.


The Cardos have the ability (buttons) to previous / next track via Bluetooth or to listen to the built in FM radio... or (some functions) can operate via voice commands for hands free operation.


A handlebar mount (I use the Kury TechMount, on the left switch housing) and you also have full featured Nav from your smart phone...


'Don't know what set-up you are currently running? I have a 4 speaker 500w J&M system in the '09 SERG and can hear it fine wearing the modular helmet (open / closed) but the listening experience is sooo much better with the Cardos.
