Default 15 FLTRXS on a severe budget

Hello all,

After reading 23 pages of threads and numerous other pages within said threads along with numerous threads in a shark specific forum, I am extremely overwhelmed.

I am hoping that some of the audio gurus here may be able to help me(and by extension other shark owners in my same position).

I have a 15 FLTRXS 6.5 head unit latest update, ripped out the craptastic 5.25 stock speakers for a set of JBL GTO6508's that I had laying around.

As most of you are quite aware the stock unit is under powered to say the least, so here is what I'm trying to do.

1. Best bang for the buck.

2. Decent sound quality and volume. (I'm not looking to be heard 3 blocks away but if it happens.....BONUS lol).

3 Stay within budget, no more than 350 bucks due to the spousal unit already throwing a fit about the new LRS Thresher and Stingray shields plus the American Custom Exhaust head pipes and the Custom Dynamic lighting add ons that have already been done.

4.I cant justify new lids on the bags PLUS the speakers to put in the lids so, I'm going to stick with inexpensive and simple by just focusing on the faring speakers.

I am thinking the C.V. B2 with The Polk MM651 and an inexpensive LOC.

Questions for starters, Is the B2 too much amp for the Polks? Would I be better off going with say a SoundStream and the Kappas(Which BTW have gotten expensive in the last 3-4 months shoulda pulled the trigger on them back in the fall, oh well)

If I go over budget by 10 bucks I'm not worried. If I go over by 100 Bucks I may need a lawyer to help with the divorce proceedings.

I realize I'm asking a lot but I hope that some of you can help lessen the confusion and help a brother out by steering me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance,

Mike

Just as an aside my taste in music is quite varied. Rush, Zep, Beatles, most classic rock. 90's alt rock to an extent, early hip hop on occasion Erik B, Public Enemy etc, a little country. Yeah I know its a bit eclectric.

I understand that it is not going to thump but want to be able to hear it at 80 and have it clear and not muddled.

Thanks again,

Mike

Well Mike with your budget I would suggest

pac sni-35 line leveler $9.00
Amp Soundstream pn4 1000d (for expansion later) $150
Infinity Kappa 62.11i. $100
Amp wiring $20
All prices were thru Amazon

I have the same set up on my 14 limited and sounds very good all the way past 80mph.
Only difference is I am running 4 Infinity Kappa

There are a couple of videos of my set up floating around here in the audio section.
I have right at $400 into my system

You are going to want a Biketronics Line Leveler instead of the Pac sni-35...

The Kappas are $170...

Kappas

Not sure where you found then for $100 on Amazon, but I didn't look too hard either.

And I have a B2 I could possibly let go cheap. Had it in the bike for about 3 months or less.

Will the B2 and the Kappas play nice with each other?

How was FM affected by the B2?

Jezze the closer I get the more questions I have.

Thanks,
Mike

The B2 never effected my FM on my 2015 FLHXS

The B2 is rated at 250Wx2 at 2 ohms, so you should have plenty of power for the Kappas, I just don't have any experience with the Kappas. I had the B2 hooked up to Moto 602's at 150Wx2 and it was definitely way better than stock. Only changing the amp because the 602's like more power, as much as twice the power.

The Kappas will absolutely scream behind that amp. They like power too.

Matt let me know if you decide to let go of the B2. Sounds like it would be a good fit for the Kappas.

thanks

Doesn't look like you can receive PM's yet, but $80 shipped sound good?
