Default AVC (auto volume control) & Blown Speakers

I am putting this subject back out there as I have been seeing ALOT of members with blown speakers. I myself was once was in the shoes as some of you are in with blowing speakers.

After doing my upgrade on my Rushmore I ran into the same problems of blowing speakers mainly just the tweeters. I had done all my homework figuring out voltages for the output side of the amp as per the Sticky in the forum.

The AVC on these Rushmore's have a very aggressive voltage increase when in use. The figures I used were just for testing purposes. So keep in mind that when doing your settings on you new upgraded system to make sure that you turn OFF the AVC and leave it off

Output Voltages on amp were for testing only

Using 1k hz test tone

At 60mph AVC OFF
14.2 volts battery
11 Volts output at amp

AVC 1 BAR
16 volts amp output

AVC 2 BARS
24 volts amp output

AVC 3 BARS
27 volts amp output

AVC 4 BARS
27 volts amp output

The AVC DOES INCREASE the output voltage considerably !!!!!!

Here is a link from when I had my problems.

You can compensate for the voltage increase of the AVC BUT you will drastically lose amp output and volume when parked and at low speeds

If some form of AVC is desired, I would guess that an AVC set at 1 is a suitable setting as 1.8 volts should be negligible.

Thoughts?

One way to tell for sure is to increase amp gains by 1.8vac and check for distortion. Should be easy on a amp with adjustable gains a DMM and the DD-1.

The AVC worked great on my 2012 Streetglide, but now I run an aftermarket fairing on my Heritage. I'm always lowering the volume at red lights, and cranking it up again at speed. Is there any way to incorporate AVC with a stereo on a Softail?

The BT hand control modual have AVC or Mute as an option. I have one that does both on the SG, but have the AVC off and use Mute.
