Looking for more wisdom from the audio OG's (17 rgs)
well seeing as the regulars in here kept me on track with my sgs I'm looking for any insight/ guidance on my new 17 rgs build. I'm currently in possession of
arc xdi600.4
aw6.5 with bt30 tweets
pro 6900's
bt355
i should start by saying with the above parts on my sgs I was pretty happy. If I'm being honest the lids never really did much for me while riding. I actually rode with just the fronts for a week and never really missed the lids unless I was stopped. This is where my confusion comes in. I've seen people say that the aw's like more power so would I benefit from bridging the amp and losing the lids entirely? Maybe ditch the tweets and do the fancy horn thing? Being on an rgs maybe I can run a separate amp for the lids with more power. If I stay with lids I will need paint too which is fine. Also any pics or tips of amp mounting locations would be great. I've never had the fairing off. Thanks in advance for any help

you can try placing the amp on top of the headlight to see if it will fit. Might have to cut the tabs off. I split the pods apart and cut some plastic off where the speaker magnet was hitting for the aw 6.5 to fit. Some guys I believe have used the biketronics spacers to make them fit. Or you can try using a heat gun on the pods to expand the plastic so the speakers can fit.

I don't miss many but I somehow missed your post. Honestly bro I have not tried many amps in the 17's. Now I know the Arc Moto 600.4 fits in there. It's 8.125 (L)x 5.43 (W)x 1.8 (H). The XDi is about an inch longer and an inch wider. So I'd say the XDi fits in there as well but I'm not 100% sure. I do know Most amps 9" long will fit the fairing. My concern would be the width. At 6" wide you're right on the fence.
Since you have no lowers on that bike I think you would benefit by running lids to balance out your sound. So I'd stick with the Pioneer Pros in the lids. Pick up a DD D4 amp from Haze mount it in the bags and bridge it to the Pioneers. Bridge the XDi (If it fits) to the AW's and keep the gains on the low side.
Note* The AW's do fit the pods but most guys go with the BT brackets.
